This page explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what your rights are. It's written to meet UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who I am
Joes Design Co is a trading name of Joe Blowen, a sole trader based in Bristol, UK. I'm the data controller for information collected through this site.
Contact: [email protected]
Postal address: 10 Mill Close, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire GL12 7LP
What I collect and why
- Your email address, if you ask for the brand check checklist. I use it to send you the checklist and up to three short follow-up emails about it. Lawful basis: your consent. You can opt out at any time by replying "stop".
- Your brand check score, sent with your email so the checklist matches your answers. Your answers aren't stored unless you ask for the checklist.
- Booking details (name, email, company and anything you add), if you book a call. I use them to run the call and follow up. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before a possible contract.
- Emails you send me. I use them to reply and, if we work together, to deliver the project. Lawful basis: legitimate interests and contract.
I don't sell your information, and I don't use it for advertising.
Who processes it for me
I use a small number of trusted services to run this site and my business. They process data on my behalf under their own data protection terms:
- Cloudflare: website hosting and security
- Formspree: the checklist form
- Cal.com: call booking
- Google Workspace: email and file storage
Some of these may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or UK–US Data Bridge.
How long I keep it
- Checklist emails: until you opt out, or 12 months after the last contact.
- Enquiries that don't become projects: 12 months.
- Client records: 6 years after the project ends, for tax and legal reasons.
Cookies and storage
This site doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies, and doesn't use Google Analytics. So there's no cookie banner.
If you use the light/dark switch, your choice is saved in your browser so the site remembers it. That's a preference you asked for, it stays on your device, and it isn't shared with anyone. Fonts and scripts are served from this site, not from third parties.
If I add analytics in future, I'll use a privacy-friendly, cookieless tool and update this page.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how I use it, or take a copy. Email [email protected] and I'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I'd appreciate the chance to sort it first.
